Why does nobody talk about hot air rework stations for phone repairs?
Honestly, I used to think you could get by with just a soldering iron for small board work on iPhones. But last week I watched a video from a guy in Austin who showed how a $120 hot air station saved him from trashing a $300 logic board. He melted a stubborn shield can off in like 30 seconds flat, no damage. That convinced me I was being dumb by trying to brute force everything with a chisel tip. Has anyone else dealt with learning this lesson the hard way on a mid-range phone?

Did that video show the exact temperature and airflow settings he used? I’ve seen a lot of people online just say “low heat” but that’s way too vague for a beginner trying not to melt a connector off the board. I messed up a midrange Samsung last year because I cranked the air too high and warped a nearby plastic socket. It took me weeks to figure out I should have started around 300 degrees with low flow. Did the guy in that video explain his process clearly, or was it more of a fast demo?

Yeah, he actually listed exact numbers. Changed my mind about how precise you gotta be.
