Enthusiastic Start to 2014
Thanks to a lot of members stepping up and getting involved, 2014 got off to an enthusiastic start! January’s Business Blast-Off in the New Year: Our Annual Roundtable Discussion, was a robust conversation about how we can make this the best year ever.
Peter Bowerman (WriteInc.), author of the award-winning book The Well-Fed Writer, set the tone for the evening by sharing with us 5 Principles that have helped him succeed in his 20 years of freelancing.
I would like to thank members Jan Stittleburg (JS PhotoFX) and Ed Wolkis (Ed Wolkis Photography) for capturing the event, Social Media Chairperson Traci Sampson (Traci with an Eye Graphic Design) for posting the event to our social media sites and long-standing member David Batley (David Batley Photography and Design) for coordinating the refreshments.
And a special thanks to members Sandy Barth (High Profile Group), Paul Glickstein, Linda Travis (The Brand Renovator) and Su Berland (Su Berland Design) for helping to make the evening a success. Folks, we are only as strong as our membership participation, and I really appreciate your efforts!
At our February meeting (Thursday, February 6, 6:30- 8:30 pm), we will feature Ruth King (Business Ventures Corporation) author of The Courage to be Profitable. Ruth is a seasoned entrepreneur with 25 years’ experience helping businesses achieve their goals. Stay tuned for more information.
It pays to get involved! If you have an idea for a topic or a particular speaker you would like to hear at one of our meetings, please let us know. We are still looking for a Refreshments Coordinator and for volunteers to help out Sandy and Claudia. If you’re interested, please contact any Board member or me. As you know, we are a volunteer organization and are only as strong as our members’ participation.
What we’ve been up to:
The past/present Board and Volunteers participated on January 25 in a retreat to discuss the findings from the recent Membership Surveys and to help focus our efforts to improve the Freelance Forum as a whole. Based on our discussions, we’ll have a follow-up survey out to you shortly. (Watch for it soon!)
The website redesign is still underway. The site has been built and we are now adding the content and fine-tuning the nomenclature.
