Best day I've had freelancing in months was last Wednesday, landed a $1,200 electrical consulting gig just from a quick chat at the coffee shop on San Pedro.

I was just grabbing my usual morning coffee and this guy next to me overheard me on the phone talking about a tricky commercial panel issue, turns out he's a property manager who's been looking for someone to audit their lighting retrofits for weeks, and by the time I finished my latte I had a signed contract in my email - has anyone else ever had a random coffee shop encounter turn into actual paid work?

Ha, nice! I once traded a joke with a barista and ended up fixing their whole POS system for free coffee for a year.

trading a joke for a whole year of free coffee" sounds like you got the better end of that deal lol. but is it really that serious? i mean, fixing a POS system is basically just rebooting it and hitting the right buttons, not like you performed surgery. @patricia_hill60 probably just googled "how to reset a POS terminal" and called it a day. still, free coffee is free coffee. i'd trade a few bad jokes for that too.

Gotta disagree with you man. Those POS systems can be finicky beasts and troubleshooting them on the fly takes real know-how. Sounds like Patricia earned every cup of that coffee.
