Client paid in tamales and I actually came out ahead
So I do freelance bookkeeping on the side and one client in the South Valley offered to pay my $150 invoice with a dozen homemade tamales. I laughed but said sure since they were a regular. Those tamales were incredible, way better than any payment I got from QuickBooks invoices. The next month they paid cash but also threw in a bag of red chile powder. Now I'm wondering if I should start accepting local goods as partial payment for smaller jobs. Anyone else trade services for food or weird barter deals around ABQ?

Started noticing how the whole city runs on this sort of under the table currency... trades, favors, goods. It's like a secret economy that works way better than the official one sometimes.
