I finally learned why that one client kept ghosting me

Had a client back in March who would go quiet for 2 weeks at a time on a web dev project. I figured they just lost interest or found someone cheaper. Turns out they were waiting for me to send a real status update instead of just a "hey any updates?" text. They told me at a coffee shop on Central Ave that they needed structured weekly recaps with bullet points. Has anyone else had a client who just wanted a different communication style than what you were giving them?

Hard disagree on this one lol. "Hey any updates?" is literally what any normal client would expect when they ghost you for two weeks. If they wanted structured weekly recaps with bullet points, they should have said that upfront instead of playing games and making you guess their preferred communication method over coffee. You're not a mind reader and a status update is a status update.

Oh come on now, is this really that big of a deal? People get so worked up over how someone says "hey, any updates" like it's some huge insult. I get why it might rub you the wrong way if you're the one getting ghosted, but calling it "playing games" feels a bit dramatic. Sometimes clients just get busy or forget, it doesn't mean they're testing you. Aren't we all just trying to get through the day without reading too much into a simple text?
