Just heard a guy at Satellite Coffee say he turned down a $2k gig because of a Scope creep clause
I was grabbing coffee on Central last Wednesday and overheard two freelancers at the next table. One of them said he walked away from a $2,000 web project because the client kept adding pages that were not in the original bid. He said he now puts a line in every contract that says anything outside the agreed list is billed at $75 an hour. I have been doing this for a year and never wrote a scope line like that, I just kind of ate the extra work. Last month I did 6 rounds of revisions on a logo for a flat $300 and wanted to scream. Do any of you have a simple scope clause you actually use, or do you just charge by the hour from the start?

Central and Satellite Coffee, but a scope clause only works if you bill it, not just write it.
