My laptop screen went black right before a big meeting at Zendo

It happened last Tuesday, right as I was pulling up my presentation for a potential new client. The screen just flickered and died, leaving me scrambling. I had to run to the library on Central to finish the work on a public computer. Has anyone else had tech fail at the worst possible moment around here?

My buddy's projector bulb blew out right as he was starting a big training session for twenty new hires. He had to do the whole three-hour orientation just talking at a blank wall, which was pretty rough. The worst part was he had a spare bulb in his desk drawer the whole time and just forgot to check.

Spot this all the time with tech. People will restart their router five times before checking if the cable got loose. Or they'll panic that their car battery is dead, only to realize the headlights were left on. We get so stuck on the big problem we forget the simple fix right in front of us. Your buddy staring at a blank wall for three hours is the perfect, painful example.

Honestly, my friend had her whole smartboard freeze up during a parent-teacher conference. Ngl, it was like @ben_fisher said, she spent ten minutes rebooting everything before a kid pointed out the power strip was switched off. She felt so silly.

Ugh, that's brutal. Did you ever figure out what actually caused the black screen?
