Quit pitching new clients for a month, got more calls than ever
I always thought the hustle was everything. For three years straight I was sending proposals to every new lead that popped up on the local ABQ freelancer boards. Last month I just stopped. I focused entirely on the two repeat customers I had and actually finished their projects early. Turns out they talked me up at a coffee shop on Central Ave and a few of their business friends called me. One guy even said, "You're the person who actually delivers around here." I know it sounds backwards, but I made more in the last 30 days than I did in the previous six months combined. Has anyone else tried pulling back on the cold outreach and just letting word of mouth do the work, or am I overthinking a slow month?

Isn't it funny how ignoring the phone makes it ring off the hook? I pulled the same trick a few years back and figured out that happy customers are basically free salespeople who don't send you spammy emails. Maybe the real hustle is just doing good work and letting the coffee shop gossip handle the rest.
