That freelancer at the coffee shop said he charges $50 for a logo and I couldn't hold back
Overheard a guy at Satellite Coffee last Wednesday bragging to his friend about landing a logo gig for $50. I told him he's screwing all of us and he just shrugged. Has anyone else had to bite their tongue when someone prices way under market?

I mean, is it really that deep though? It's one guy doing a cheap logo at a coffee shop, not like he's out there bidding on Fortune 500 contracts. Some people just starting out or don't know any better, and honestly if the client is happy with a $50 logo then whatever. The real problem is clients who expect that price from everyone else, not some random freelancer trying to make a quick buck. Feels like we get worked up about this stuff way too easily sometimes.

Satellite Coffee's owner actually told me he takes a cut from those $50 gigs.

My buddy went to Satellite last month to meet someone about buying a used camera lens off Craigslist. While he was there he overheard the owner telling some guy with a laptop that if he wanted to keep using the outlet by the window he'd have to hand over 15% of whatever the client paid. He just packed up and left.
