Vent: The realtor who ghosted me after I did a free mockup

Met a realtor at that coffee shop on Central last month. He said he needed a new website for his listings, sounded super serious. I spent a whole evening making a mockup for his top property, sent it over. Nothing. No reply, no call. Then I see him posting on Facebook using the exact same layout I made. What do you even do in that situation besides block and move on?

People just feel way too comfortable taking stuff for free these days, it's like that's the new normal for everything now...

Yeah that's way over the line, he straight up stole your work. But one thing to note - a mockup is usually a non-functional visual design, so if he just used your layout idea that's not quite the same as stealing code or something. Still a total jerk move though, blocking is the right call.

Yeah great, so now we've got the "well actually it's not real stealing" defense. I'm sure the guy would be real chill about it if someone copied his mockup and charged a client for it.
