Is AI art actually taking jobs or just changing what those jobs look like? I keep going back and forth.
I went to a panel in Portland last month where a guy who used to do concept art for a game studio said he lost his contract after they started using Midjourney for early drafts. But then a freelance illustrator I know says she's actually getting more work now because clients want her to clean up and refine AI generated concepts, so she charges $45 an hour for that instead of $30 for doing it from scratch. Which side do you all lean on here, has it actually taken work away from creatives you know or just shifted the kind of stuff they do?

Haha I mean I can barely get AI to generate a picture of a cat that doesn't look like a melted couch, so my job is safe for now. But it's wild how it's just sort of shifting the hustle around instead of a straight up replacement.
