I mocked them too, but that weird patience CHANGED my mind.

Honestly I was in the same boat, thought they were just a gimmick. My niece used one for algebra last semester and it totally turned her grades around. It just has that weird patience a person sometimes runs out of.

Remember feeling like @amy754, totally sure it was a waste of time. Then I got stuck helping my nephew with his fractions homework last week, and after my third try explaining it the same way, I just pulled up one of those free tutor bots on my phone. It showed him a different way to picture the problem with a pizza, and his face just lit up. I had to admit, the thing never got that tight, impatient feeling in its voice that I definitely had. It just tried a new angle without any sighing. Kind of a weird thing to get shown up by a chunk of code.
