Tried using AI to draft my email replies and it cost me a real conversation with a friend
Last Thursday I let ChatGPT write a quick response to a buddy about his hiking injury, and he called me out for sounding robotic - turns out he just needed me to ask how he was doing, not send a perfectly polished paragraph. Has anyone else had an AI shortcut backfire in a personal relationship like that?

That robotic tone kills the warmth every time.

Push back on that one, Ryan. Maybe the robotic tone is exactly what keeps friendships from turning into those exhausting, rambling sessions where nobody actually says anything. @webb.hannah brought up spam filters, but honestly, sometimes a short, clean message is more respectful than a wall of text pretending to care. Efficiency doesn't have to mean coldness, it just means you value their time as much as your own.

Right, because nothing says "I value our friendship" like a paragraph that even my email spam filter would reject. Guess we're all just training our friends to expect less warmth and more efficiency.
