Basket vs tray insert, went back to basket after 8 months
I bought a tray insert for my air fryer back in March because I wanted to cook two things at once. The tray was a pain to clean, and stuff kept sliding off when I shook it. Switched back to the basket last week, and honestly the food crisps up way better with the holes on the sides. I gave the tray to my sister who likes it for bacon, but for fries and chicken wings the basket wins every time. Does anyone else find the inserts more trouble than they're worth, or am I just using them wrong?

Stuff kept sliding off when I shook it" is basically my life motto at this point, not gonna lie. I bought one of those tray inserts last year thinking I was some kind of multi-tasking genius, and within two weeks it was shoved in the back of my cabinet collecting dust. My problem was I'd try to flip a batch of wings and half of them would end up in the bottom of the fryer, stuck in that weird gap. The basket just let me give things a good hearty toss without losing half the food to the heating element. I still have that tray too, and honestly I only drag it out when I'm too lazy to dirty up a second pan, which says a lot about how much I love it.
