Can we talk about how air fryer chicken thighs changed texture after 3 months?

I got an air fryer back in January. First few weeks chicken thighs came out juicy with crispy skin every time. But around month 3 I noticed they started drying out faster and the skin got rubbery. I switched brands of thighs, tried different temps, nothing consistent. Did my air fryer get weaker over time or am I doing something different? Anyone else see a before and after shift like this?

Huh, I actually had the opposite experience with mine @averyc94. I bought mine last fall and the chicken thighs have been pretty consistent through month 4 and 5. I wonder if it's more about the specific model or maybe how often you use it. Mine gets used almost daily and it still seems to hold temp fine.

I totally feel you on this. david920 saying it's been consistent for them is interesting, but I think it really depends on the model. Mine started acting up around month three too, and I read that some air fryers' heating elements degrade faster with heavy oil usage. Maybe the coating on the basket gets less nonstick over time, which throws off how the skin crisps. I'd check if your air fryer is one of those cheaper models that might not hold temp as well after a few months. Switching to a higher quality oil or patting the thighs bone dry before cooking helped me a little bit, but not as much as I wanted.

Noticed the exact same thing with mine around month four.
