Hit 200 air fryer recipes logged in my notebook, here's what that taught me
I started keeping a little spiral notebook back in January to track every recipe I tried in my air fryer, mostly because I kept forgetting which settings worked. Last night I hit recipe number 200, which felt like a big deal since I almost gave up after burning frozen fries three times in the first week. The biggest surprise was that my best results came from recipes I wrote down after tweaking them, not from the original ones I found online. For example, my crispy chickpeas only worked once I started soaking them for 30 minutes before air frying at 380 for 14 minutes. I also learned that my basket size matters more than wattage, I got a 5.3 quart model and anything bigger than a single layer just steams instead of crisps. Has anyone else kept a count of their recipes, and what was the weirdest thing that finally clicked for you? I'm curious if I'm the only one who logs every attempt like a weird scientist.

Logging 200 recipes sounds like a real commitment, but honestly I never got why people track every small tweak like that. Your chickpea soak thing works for you, but I've had great luck just tossing them in dry and cranking the heat, so maybe the notebook overcomplicates what's basically trial and error. Different baskets and habits mean different rules, so your system might just be your own training wheels.
