I finally overheard my wife talking to her friend about my air fryer chicken
She said I'm obsessed with preheating the basket for 5 minutes before putting anything in, even frozen fries. I took it as a compliment because that 5 minute preheat is what keeps the skin from sticking and getting soggy. Anyone else get roasted by their family for weird air fryer habits?

My wife caught me timing exactly 4 minutes and 37 seconds of preheat for frozen tater tots and said I needed professional help. Ngl though, that extra heat makes all the difference.

Preheating that long just means you care about the food.

Wait, I used to be one of those people who just tossed stuff in cold and hoped for the best? Yeah, total game changer when I finally tried preheating. My wife laughed at me the first few times because I'd stand there with the basket out, watching the timer tick down like it was some kind of sacred ritual. But honestly, the difference with chicken wings is night and day - no more rubbery skin or sad, pale patches. Now I even preheat for frozen mozzarella sticks so the breading crisps up before the cheese fully melts out.
