Just spent $35 on a silicone air fryer liner and it already burned me

I bought a set of those silicone liners off Amazon last week thinking they'd make cleanup easier for my chicken wings. The first batch of wings came out soggy and the liner started smoking after 15 minutes at 400 degrees. Anyone else had bad luck with these things or did I just get a cheap knockoff?

Oh man, I feel this in my bones. I bought a similar set thinking I was being smart about not scrubbing my basket all the time. First time I used one at 375 degrees it started smoking and smelling like burning plastic in my whole kitchen. My wife came running in asking if I was trying to set the house on fire. The wings came out looking pale and sad too, like they just gave up on life. I honestly think those liners are a total scam unless you're cooking at like 325 or lower, which defeats the whole point of having an air fryer in my opinion. I just went back to using parchment paper and it works way better for me.

My buddy Doug actually tried those liners after seeing an ad online and it was a whole disaster. He texted me a photo of his air fryer basket with this weird melted plastic pattern baked into the bottom, looked like a modern art piece. @joseph_green13 your meth lab comment had me dying because Doug's whole apartment complex apparently smelled like burnt chemicals for an hour. He tried to air out his place by opening all the windows in January in Minnesota, like that was somehow the better option. The wings he was making ended up tasting like a science experiment gone wrong, all rubbery with a weird aftertaste. He finally just threw the whole liner pack in the trash and went back to rinsing his basket like a normal person.

Tried explaining the smoke to my neighbor through the window, looked like I was running a meth lab out of my kitchen. The wings coming out pale and sad is exactly right, mine looked like they were auditioning for a depression era documentary. Went back to a quick soak and scrub cycle instead, at least my house doesn't smell like a recycling plant.
