My air fryer basket coating started peeling after 8 months

I noticed little black flakes in my fries last Tuesday and realized the nonstick coating was coming off. I just flipped it over and used a silicone liner instead of buying a new one. Anyone else deal with coating failure on these things?

yeah that's the air fryer tax right there. you pay $80 for a gadget and then the coating decides to flake off like it's auditioning for a snow globe. I had the same thing happen with mine around the 9 month mark, just started seeing little black specks in everything and thought I'd somehow burned a plastic bag in there. honestly I just said forget it and bought a stainless steel mesh basket off Amazon for like $12, works fine and no mystery flakes in my food. the silicone liners work too but I feel like they trap heat weirdly sometimes. it's like these companies know the coating will fail right after the warranty expires.

Nah, user error is usually the real problem there.

kevinw94 is right though, my mom's air fryer started doing that and she just said forget it and bought a toaster oven instead.
