My air fryer basket was rusting, parchment paper liners fixed it

I noticed rust spots on my 5.2 quart basket after about 2 months of heavy use, mostly from acidic marinades. I tried washing it more carefully but the spots stuck around. Then I grabbed a pack of 100 parchment paper liners for $8 at Target and now I just toss them in with each batch. The cleanup is faster and I haven't seen a new rust spot in 3 weeks. Anyone else had rust issues and found a better fix?

My 3.7 quart basket started flaking after I did chicken wings with a honey garlic glaze, so I feel you. I tried the liners too but honestly the real fix for me was just hand drying the basket right after every wash, plus a quick wipe with a little vegetable oil before I put it away. Cheap, takes like 30 seconds, and my second basket is still spotless after 6 months. The liners help for sure, but that drying step is what actually stopped mine from spreading.
