My air fryer was a dust collector until last Tuesday

I bought mine back in 2021 during the big shortage, used it twice for frozen fries, then stuck it in the back of the pantry. Last week my sister came over and made buffalo cauliflower in like 15 minutes and it was actually crispy, not soggy like my oven version. So I dug mine out, watched a quick video about preheating and not overcrowding the basket, and tried chicken thighs with just salt, pepper, and a little oil. Honestly, the skin came out better than my cast iron skillet does, which shocked me because I've been defending that skillet for years. I think the problem before was I expected it to cook like a microwave and didn't shake the basket halfway. Now I'm testing veggies and reheat stuff, and I finally get the hype. Anyone else have a late conversion after ignoring the thing for years, or is it just me and my sister?

Why trade the perfect crunch of a cast iron crust for a basket of hot air that dries everything out?
