My brother insisted I preheat the air fryer for 10 minutes every time
He said it makes everything crispier, but I tried it with frozen chicken strips and they came out dry as a bone after 12 minutes. Has anyone else been told to preheat for that long or is my brother just wrong?

My air fryer timer is more of a suggestion than a rule.

My friend Sarah tried preheating her air fryer for 8 minutes like your brother said, and her chicken nuggets came out so dry she had to dip them in ketchup just to swallow. Alex820 is right about timers being more of a suggestion though, she started checking stuff at the 6 minute mark after that disaster. I think your brother means well but nobody needs that much preheat unless they're cooking a whole frozen pizza or something.

Preheated mine for 10 minutes once and my fries turned into charcoal, so now I just throw things in cold and hope for the best. Your brother's got some strong opinions for someone who's never had to clean burnt chicken off the basket.
