Rant: I had to choose between a full oven or the air fryer for my 3 pound pork roast
It was for a small dinner party in my apartment, and I was worried about the air fryer not handling something that big. I went with the air fryer at 375 degrees for about 50 minutes, and it came out perfectly juicy with a great crust. Has anyone else tried a roast this size in their air fryer, or is that pushing it?

Wow, I never would have guessed a roast that big could fit! Makes me wonder if the shape matters more than just the weight.

Last Thanksgiving I had a similar surprise with a bone-in ham. It was under the weight limit for my roaster, but the odd shape meant I had to angle it diagonally. The key was removing the top rack entirely to gain that extra inch of height. Once I did that, the lid closed with room to spare. It taught me that checking the interior dimensions is just as important as the weight capacity.

Honestly, that sounds like a huge risk with a dinner party on the line. My air fryer's manual specifically warns against overcrowding for even heat. A three pound roast probably blocked most of the airflow, so you got lucky this time. I would never try it because the middle could easily stay undercooked while the outside burns. The full oven is the safe choice for something that big and important.
