Remember when frozen fries were the only easy option?
I spent about $80 on a fancy mandoline slicer a couple years back, thinking I'd make perfect homemade fries all the time. It just sat in the drawer because cleaning it was a huge pain, and I went back to the bag. Now with the air fryer, I just chop potatoes with a regular knife, toss them in oil, and they come out amazing. What's one kitchen gadget you bought that your air fryer made totally pointless?

You're right about the cleaning, but a mandoline is still way faster than a knife for thin, even slices. I use mine for things like potato gratin or quick pickles. It has its place if you need perfect uniformity.

That mandoline is a nightmare to clean, right? I ended up selling mine online for half what I paid. A sharp chef's knife gets you 95% of the way there for fries, and you just rinse it off.
