Shoutout to the person who said to try frozen dumplings in the air fryer
I saw a comment about it on a video from a food blog in Portland. Tossed a few frozen pork gyoza in at 380 for 10 minutes, no oil. They came out super crispy, not soggy at all, and the filling was hot. Totally changed my mind about needing to steam or pan-fry them. Anyone have other frozen foods that work surprisingly well?

Wait, have you tried it with the thinner wonton wrappers? I did some frozen mini wontons and they dried out way too much in the air fryer, got kind of tough. The thicker dumpling skin seems key for it to work right.

That Portland food blog post was going around my feed last week too. I read a follow-up comment saying to spritz frozen dumplings with a little water before air frying, something about keeping the filling moist. I tried it with some chicken potstickers and it did help, they weren't dry at all. The outside still got that nice crackle without the inside turning into a paste.

Mentioned this to my friend who runs a dumpling shop. She said the water spritz works because it creates steam that cooks the filling through before the outside gets too dry. She actually puts a damp paper towel under the dumplings in the air fryer basket for the first few minutes, then takes it out to let them crisp up.
