Tried making toast in my air fryer, spent 40 minutes wrestling with the timer

So last Tuesday I got this bright idea to do toast since my toaster broke. Put two slices in, set the timer for 3 minutes like the manual said. They came out pale and sad. Upped it to 5 minutes, still no color. Took me another 4 tries before I realized I kept hitting the air fry button instead of the toast setting, so it was just blowing cold air the whole time. 40 minutes of my morning gone because I can't read buttons. Has anyone else accidentally used the wrong mode and wasted a whole batch? Also how long do you guys actually do bread at 400 degrees, mine finally worked at 4 minutes but it's way darker than I expected.

Ha! Yeah I've been there. Mine was the opposite, kept hitting the air fry button when I wanted the dehydrate setting and ruined a whole batch of jerky. For the toast, once I figured out the right button I just do 3 minutes at 380 and it comes out perfect, not too dark.
