Vent: The weirdest thing I saw at the county fair food stand

I was at the county fair in Springfield last weekend and a vendor was selling 'air fried' corn dogs for $8 each, but they were just sitting under a heat lamp. I asked the guy about it and he said, 'The air fryer is in the back, trust me.' Has anyone else run into a place that claims to use an air fryer but you're pretty sure they don't?

Honestly that setup makes total sense. A busy fair stand can't have a tiny air fryer up front for every order, the line would be a mile long. They probably cook batches in the back to keep up with demand and use the lamp to hold them at a safe temp. That guy was just telling you the truth, the equipment is just in the kitchen area. It's not like he was hiding a microwave.

Guess @casey342 has never been to a fair where the "fresh" fries were clearly cooked last Tuesday, right?

Air fryers are actually pretty fast, they could totally do single orders.

Maybe martinez.paul just got a bad batch. Honestly, it's fair food, not a fancy restaurant. They're trying to feed a huge crowd fast. So they cook a bunch of fries and keep them warm. The other option is waiting 20 minutes for a tiny basket. That lamp is there for a reason, and it's probably keeping things safe to eat. It's really not that deep.
