Why does nobody talk about preheating frozen fries in the microwave first?

Was at my buddy's house last week and he threw a bag of frozen crinkle cuts in the microwave for 2 minutes before air frying. Told me it cuts down the cook time by like 8 minutes and they come out way crispier. Tried it with my own batch at 380 degrees for 10 minutes after microwaving and they actually had that diner texture. Has anyone else tried this trick or am I late to the party?

Did you try it with the crinkle cuts or just steak fries... @logan_anderson40 might have something there with the flipping thing, I almost set my microwave on fire too forgetting to shake the bag halfway through. The trick is to nuke them on a paper plate, not a metal one, and only do about 90 seconds tops or you're basically making fry soup.

Late to the party? Dude you're so late the party's over and someone already stole the dip." Actually though I tried this with some steak fries last week and my microwave almost caught fire because I forgot to flip them halfway. But when they survived they were basically perfect. Just don't tell my air fryer I'm cheating on it with the microwave now.

My sister tried the frozen bag method from that Dollar Tree trick and it actually worked for shoestring fries. You just have to shake the bag every 60 seconds or they turn into a soggy brick.
