A chat with a retired TWA mechanic changed how I see my job
I was grabbing coffee in St. Louis last week and got talking to this older guy who worked on 707s back in the day. He said, 'We weren't just fixing planes, we were sending people home safe to their families.' It hit different because lately I've just been grinding through logbooks. Does that kind of perspective ever come back to you on a long shift?

My 3 AM fuel truck runs do that sometimes.

Nah, that sounds like a total myth to me.

Been there with the late night runs. Check your fifth wheel connection and make sure the landing gear is fully up. A slight drag can feel weird. @the_leo might call it a myth, but that specific vibration is real when things aren't locked tight. You get used to spotting the little signs after a while, right?

You ever just feel that weird shudder and think, 'Here we go again'? @the_leo might call it a myth, but I've been there enough times to know it's real when the rig isn't quite right.
