Appreciation post: Plant-based degreasers are a game changer for cleanup
I was helping a friend at the small airport over the weekend and saw the mechanics using this new cleaner. They said it's made from citrus and works just as well on grease but doesn't need special disposal. It cuts down on hazardous waste bins, which saves money and helps the environment. Stuff like that makes me happy to see our trade adopting greener practices. Has anyone else tried similar swaps in their shop?

My buddy's shop in Toledo switched to orange-based degreasers last spring. I tried it once and managed to spill it everywhere because I'm somehow worse with a spray bottle than with actual tools. The smell alone was worth it, though, no more that chemical headache after a long day. It's crazy how something so simple can make such a BIG difference. I still laugh at myself for that mess, but hey, at least it wasn't toxic!

Right? The citrus stuff is a game changer for old grease. I was cleaning this crusty lawnmower engine last week and the orange spray cut through gunk I thought was permanent. It didn't even leave that weird oily film on my hands. My garage smelled like a fruit stand instead of a chemical plant for two days.
