Hot take: Watching a pit crew at the Daytona 500 changed how I prep my tool cart

I was at the race last month and saw how their carts were staged by job, not just by tool type. Came back to the hangar and reorganized my cart for a C-check, grouping everything for hydraulics in one spot. How do you guys set up your carts for big jobs?

Grouping by job instead of tool type is such a simple idea, but it never hit me. My cart looks like a tornado hit a hardware store. I tried to set it up by the manual once, but by hour three everything just migrates back to one messy pile. Maybe I need to watch more racing and less how-to videos on my breaks.

Lol my buddy tried that and his drill ended up in the fridge. Some systems just fight back.

Yeah, the manual is basically a suggestion box for where tools should go before they rebel. My garage has a mind of its own too, it just eats tape measures and 10mm sockets. At this point I just follow the chaos.
