Just realized my old torque wrench was off by 15 foot-pounds on a Cessna 172's cylinder head bolts

I had to choose between trusting my gut that the reading felt wrong or just going with the click. I sent it out for calibration and it was way out, which could have been a real problem. How often do you guys actually get your torque tools checked?

Our shop sends them out once a year... seems like cheap insurance after hearing that.

Wait, isn't that a bit too often, @jamiesullivan?

Only once a year? What do you do when the batteries die in six months?
