Spent $180 on a borescope, now I barely torque anything blind
I used to fight with tight spots on Cessna baffling and exhaust shrouds by feel, just hoping the torque wrench clicked right. Last month I finally bought a cheap articulating borescope with a screen, thinking it was a gimmick for inspection only. Turns out I can snake it behind the firewall and actually see if my safety wire is routed clear before I button everything up. It already saved me on an oil cooler line where I would have pinched the hose clamp against the mount. The battery life sucks and the light washes out in direct sun, but for the price it beats tearing out a baffle to verify one bolt. Anyone else using a camera to check torque setups instead of trusting fingertips? What model have you had luck with on tight cowlings?
