That fancy torque wrench I bought was a total waste of $400

I picked up a digital torque wrench from Snap-on last month thinking it would make my life easier, but the battery died on the third job and it threw the calibration way off. I lost half a shift trying to sort it out and ended up using my old beam style wrench anyway. Anyone else find that the expensive digital stuff just isn't worth the hassle on the line?

Oh come on man you just got a dud or you didn't charge it properly. I've had my digital Tekton for two years now and it's been spot on every single time. The batteries last forever if you remember to turn it off after use. Plus the beep and click combo lets me work faster than any beam wrench ever could. I don't have to squint at a needle or worry about the angle I'm looking at it from. How often do you actually check the calibration on your beam style anyway because I bet it's been off for longer than you think.

Wait, hang on... you've had a digital Tekton for two YEARS and it's still working perfect? Mine crapped out after like six months, the LCD started ghosting numbers and then just went dead one day. I was religious about turning it off too, always kept it in its case. Makes me wonder if I just got super unlucky or if there's a bad batch out there or something.

Yeah I remember reading somewhere that Tekton had a bad batch of torque wrenches around mid-2021, something with the sensor boards going faulty. Might explain why some people have had great luck and others got duds.
