The $220 borescope that paid for itself on one Cessna gear retract issue
I bought that cheap borescope back in 2021 to peek inside a fuel tank and ended up finding a cracked pushrod tube on a 172 without pulling the cowl, saved me two full days of labor and the owner's wallet, so what's the one tool you splurged on that actually earned its keep?

Man, that's the kind of tool story I love hearing... I actually read a forum post last week where a guy used a cheap endoscope to find a stuck valve spring on a Lycoming without pulling the jugs, saved him a whole weekend.
It's funny how the boring tools end up being the real workhorses, you know?
Mine was a digital protractor, cost me about eighty bucks, and it's paid for itself ten times over just by getting angles right on control surfaces and mounts the first time.
