Thought the new apprentice was pulling my leg about the 'squeaky wheel' fix

Kid kept saying a specific high pitched squeak on a Cessna 172's landing gear meant a worn bushing, not just needing grease (which is what I figured). I humored him, pulled the wheel, and sure enough the bushing was shot, you could see the wear clear as day. Been doing this 15 years in Tampa and never made that connection before. Anyone else have a weird noise that turned out to be a super specific problem?

Wait, you're telling me you just found out about that now? That's wild... I learned that basic thing in my first week. It makes you wonder what else they don't tell you. The training must be seriously different from place to place.

Keep a running list of things you figure out on your own. I started a simple doc on my computer for work stuff nobody taught me. It helps to see the gaps, and you can use it to ask better questions later. Management often doesn't realize what they left out of the training.
