Tried safety wire pliers backwards on a 737 flap track and it actually worked better
Was doing a flap track lube on a 737-800 at the hangar in Tulsa and my wrist was shot from twisting wire all morning, so out of pure laziness I flipped my safety wire pliers around and pulled instead of twisted. The pigtail came out way tighter and more even than my usual hand twist, like 7 to 8 twists per inch without even trying. Foreman walked by and just nodded, said the old guys used to do it that way before everyone got fancy. Anyone else pull instead of twist on tight spots, or am I late to the party here?
Funny how the simple fix usually comes from somebody too tired to do it the hard way. I see this at home too, like how everyone bought fancy jar openers and then my grandmother pops the lid with a butter knife in two seconds. The old guys figured it out because they didn't have a better option, and half the time that is still the better option.
