A customer in a small town said something that changed how I look at every install
I was putting in a basic system for an older lady in a place called Millville. She watched me run the wire and said, 'You're not just putting in an alarm, you're giving me back a good night's sleep.' It made me realize the real job is about the peace of mind, not just the beeps and lights. Anyone else have a moment like that?

Ever wonder if customers even notice the difference between a cheap and a quality install?

That's the whole job right there.

Gotta push back a little on that one, Fiona. Most customers absolutely notice the difference, they just can't put it into words. They might not know what a crimped connection looks like or care about torque specs on breakers, but they feel it when things work right for years without issues. The cheap stuff comes loose, flickers, trips breakers, and they definitely notice that when they're resetting a GFCI at 2am. I've had customers tell me they could just feel the previous work was wrong, even if they couldn't explain it technically. Quality installs give them that quiet confidence where they don't even think about it, and that's the whole point.

Yeah, that's the real deal right there. It's not about the gear, it's about the feeling it gives them. Kinda like what @fionat55 said, but flipped, you know? The customer might not know a good wire from a bad one, but they sure know when they feel safe again.
