An older installer pointed out my false alarm rates were high last month

I was pulling 3-4 false alarms a week on my new installs and couldn't figure out why. He watched me place a motion sensor and said I was aiming it too close to a heat vent, which was triggering it every time the furnace kicked on. Has anyone else had to adjust their sensor placement because of something unexpected like heating ducts or drafty windows?

Almost identical situation lol, moved the sensor a few feet and dropped to zero false alarms.

Honestly YES, heat vents are a HUGE culprit with these things. I had a Nest Protect that went off three times in one week before I figured out it was sitting right above a floor vent in the hallway. The air current messes with the sensor and it thinks there's smoke or something. Moving it just two feet to the wall solved the whole problem completely.

Three false alarms in a week sounds more like bad placement than a design flaw honestly.
