Found a trick for fishing wire through old sagging walls

Tried taping a strong magnet to my fish tape to grab the wire from the other side in a 1920s house last week. Has anyone else used magnets to get around blown-in insulation without tearing half the wall down?

Hold up, are we really acting like fishing a screw out of a drain is the same as dealing with blown-in insulation in a 1920s wall? I mean, a paperclip to reset a router is clever and all, but that's like a 30 second fix with zero risk. Taping a magnet to a fish tape in an old house with unknown wiring and sagging walls feels like a whole different level of "maybe don't." idk, just seems like you could easily end up smashing through some ancient plaster or pulling a live wire loose.

Yeah, it's funny how we're all trying to fix these old houses with magnets and tape, right? It's like modern life keeps forcing us to get creative with the simple tools. My dad used a magnet to fish a screw out of a drain once, and now I keep them in my car for all sorts of quick fixes. That same kind of thriftiness shows up everywhere, like using a ruler to prop open a stuck window or a paperclip to reset a router. Makes you wonder what other everyday stuff we're overlooking that could solve a bigger problem.

Paperclips work great for sticking in most reset buttons on electronics.
