Heard a home inspector say most alarm system wires are installed too close to electrical lines

Now I'm pulling every panel I've done in the last 6 months to check for interference issues, anyone else ever deal with false alarms from bad wire placement?

Nobody's talking about how the voltage drop on a long wire run can mess with things too. If that alarm wire's parallel to a heavy load, you're not just getting noise, you're getting a brownout on your sensors. That'll cause false triggers too.

Twenty four volts right next to 120 is just asking for trouble.

You ever see a control panel that looks like someone just threw all the wires in and closed the lid? I had a buddy who worked on an old HVAC unit where someone had the 24 volt thermostat wires running right through the same knockout as the 120 line. He said he went to pull a wire and got a surprise that made him drop his screwdriver. Took him an hour to trace which wire was which, and he said his arm still tingled the rest of the day. That's the kind of shortcut that gets people hurt for no good reason.
