Landlord asked me to hide a keypad behind drywall, I said no
Last month a landlord in Des Moines insisted I mount a keypad inside a cabinet so his tenants couldn't see it. I told him that's a fire code nightmare and a security hole, so I walked off the $1,800 job. Has anyone else had a client demand something that dumb on purpose?

Hidden keypad is actually a solid setup for theft prevention. Someone casing the place sees nothing to target, that's the whole point. Fire code is about accessible emergency exits, not appliance placement.
