Overheard a DSC rep say something that flipped my script on panel updates
At a supply house in Tulsa last Tuesday, a DSC rep was telling a guy that the older PowerSeries panels he kept patching with workarounds were costing him more in service calls than just swapping to a new unit. I always defended the old gear, figured a fresh install was a money grab. Then I looked at my own log, three truck rolls in six months on one 10 year old system, and the math made sense. Anyone else stick with legacy panels past their useful life or am I the last one holding out?

That line about service calls costing more than a swap is the part people don't want to hear, but it's true once you add up the trips, the parts, and the time you spend explaining the same fix twice. I ran the numbers on a couple of old jobs last year and the break even point hit way sooner than I expected, usually inside a year or two. Holding onto old gear only makes sense if it's still doing the job and you're not bleeding hours on it.
