Rant: Bought a $400 cellular dialer backup and it failed on the first test
I dropped $400 on a cellular dialer backup for a commercial install in Denver thinking it would save me from phone line outages. First real test came during a storm last Thursday and the unit just blinked red instead of connecting. Anyone else had issues with these things dropping signal in bad weather?

Yeah exactly, "a $400 unit should be built to handle it." You'd think they'd weatherproof the antenna or at least put some signal redundancy in there. I've had luck tossing a cheap external antenna on mine and mounting it higher up, cleared most of the storm issues for me. Still annoying you gotta mod a brand new device just to make it work in a little rain though lol.

Read somewhere that even the military has issues with these things in bad weather so you're not alone there.

Man, that's rough. I've been there with expensive gear letting you down at the worst possible time, and it's just frustrating. A storm knocking out cell signal makes sense but you'd think a $400 unit would be built to handle it.
