The Tuesday I spent 6 hours chasing a ground loop in a crawlspace
Every zone in a 1970s ranch house in Dayton was falsing after 3pm, turns out the old cable runs shared a path with the furnace blower and a $12 ferrite clamp fixed it, has anyone else had a phantom signal that only showed up on sunny afternoons?

The part about it only happening after 3pm on sunny afternoons just blew my mind. That is such a weirdly specific pattern, like the signal knew the workday was almost over or something. I've chased plenty of gremlins in my time but never one that waited for the sun to hit a certain angle in the sky. The furnace blower sharing the path makes sense though, that thing draws a ton of power and can really throw off the whole circuit. A $12 fix after six hours in a crawlspace though. That's the kind of thing that makes you want to flip a table and hug the ferrite clamp at the same time.
