Went to a new build in Austin and saw the whole alarm panel just zip-tied to a stud
It was a big house, maybe 5k square feet, and the main panel for the security system wasn't in a cabinet or anything. The installer just used a bunch of black zip ties to strap it right to an open stud in the garage. I've heard some guys argue it's fine for a clean look during rough-in, but others say it's just lazy and looks unprofessional to the homeowner. What's your take on using zip ties as the main mounting method for a panel?

My buddy's panel fell right off the stud when the zip ties got brittle.

Yeah, that's just asking for trouble like @the_rose said. I saw a nest of wires fall out of a ceiling after the zip ties snapped.

Actually, zip ties are rated for a long time indoors, like 20 years for the good nylon ones. The problem is when people use the cheap ones from a dollar store for something heavy. I've seen the UV from sun through a skylight wreck them in five years though.
