Dropped $340 on a battery pruning saw last spring and it quit on day 2 of a takedown in Spokane
So last April I grabbed one of those cordless pole saws everyone keeps raving about, thinking it would save my shoulders on the small stuff. $340 with an extra battery, and I was feeling pretty smart about it. Day two, I'm 20 feet up a 40 foot maple in Spokane, and the thing just dies mid cut with a full charge showing. No warning, no fade, just done. I finished that removal with a handsaw and a pole pruner like it was 1995, and my forearms were wrecked for three days. Called the shop and they said the motor controller on that batch had a known issue, which would have been nice to know before I climbed. Ended up going back to a gas top handle for the big cuts and a good old Silky for everything else. If you're thinking about going cordless for real production work, rent one first for a full day of takedowns before you drop the cash. Anyone here actually getting a full season out of a battery saw without a failure?
