Ever spend 4 hours trying to get a throw line out of a sweetgum?

The client in Decatur just wanted a dead limb down, but my throw bag got a perfect wrap on a tiny twig 60 feet up. Has anyone else had a simple pull turn into a whole afternoon?

Sixty feet up on a tiny twig? That's just showing off. The tree gods must have been in a real mood that day. I'd have been convinced it was superglued on after the first hour of messing with it. Those perfect wraps feel like a personal insult from the forest.

Had the same thing happen with a maple last week. Ended up using a second throw line to lasso the stuck bag's tail and pull it sideways. The sideways jerk popped it right off that stupid little twig.

Ever try just giving the main line a good hard yank? I found that a quick, sharp pull straight down can shock it loose when a side pull doesn't work. It's saved me from setting up a second line more than once.

Oh man, that's the worst. Sounds like that sweetgum was just determined to keep your bag as a souvenir. I should have tried that lasso trick @blairm77 mentioned before I started cussing at the tree. Sometimes the simplest jobs turn into a full on puzzle because of one stubborn twig. I swear those little branches have a mind of their own.
