I finally got a squirrel to stop stealing my lunch by offering it a better trade

So I'm up in a bucket truck last Tuesday, working on a big silver maple in this client's yard in Springfield. I set my sandwich down on the platform for two seconds to adjust my harness, and this little gray squirrel just zips up the trunk, grabs the whole thing, and takes off. Happened three days in a row. On the fourth day, I brought an extra bag of almonds. I held one out, pointed at my sandwich, and said 'trade?' like an idiot. The squirrel actually dropped the half-eaten apple it had, took the almond, and left my turkey club alone. Has anyone else had to negotiate with the local wildlife on a job?

The trade offer works. Had to bribe a raccoon with jerky.

What kind of jerky did you use? I had to switch to the cheap stuff because the good beef jerky made the raccoon start demanding signing bonuses.

That raccoon is now a key part of the front office. I heard he negotiated a player option for extra trash can access.
