Pro tip: my pole pruner rope frayed on a big oak limb yesterday
I was taking down a dead limb on a mature white oak in Portland when the rope on my fiberglass pole pruner just gave way mid-cut... The limb swung hard and nearly took out a fence below. Has anyone found a good way to reinforce or replace those factory ropes before they fail?

Pretty standard for those factory ropes honestly.

Did you try tying the new rope with a fishermen's knot instead of the standard bowline? I went through three factory ropes last year before my wife threatened to ground me from the tree work hobby. These days I just buy bulk arborist rope and pretreat the ends with super glue like a classy hillbilly.

Used to think you were overthinking it but that super glue trick actually makes a lot of sense.
